We work with both new collections and repeat production programs, depending on the quantity and development stage.

Custom Halter Dress Manufacturer for Your Brands
We manufacture custom halter dresses for fashion brands, boutiques, retailers, wholesalers, designers and private label companies.
Your project can start with a finished tech pack, a reference garment, a sketch or even a product idea that still needs to be developed.
Before sampling, we review the neckline, strap construction, back opening, fabric and key measurements. If something is likely to cause a fitting or production problem, we can address it before the pattern is finalized.
For projects that already have a complete tech pack, we can work directly from your specifications.
Fabrics for Custom Halter Dresses
Fabric choice can change how a halter dress sits and how it needs to be constructed. Satin, chiffon, silk and stretch jersey all behave differently around the neckline, straps and back.
| Fabric | Suitable For | Production Considerations |
|---|---|---|
| Satin | Evening, party & occasionwear | Drape, surface handling, pressing |
| Silk | Premium collections | Shrinkage, cutting, seam appearance |
| Chiffon | Maxi & occasion dresses | Transparency, lining, lightweight seams |
| Crepe | Formal & occasionwear | Drape, structure, seam finishing |
| Jersey | Fitted & casual styles | Stretch, recovery, body fit |
| Lace | Occasion & special collections | Lining, placement, seam matching |
| Mesh | Fashion & partywear | Stability, transparency, lining |
| Cotton | Summer & casual dresses | Shrinkage, wash performance |
If you already have a fabric specification, you can send it with your design.
If the fabric has not been selected yet, send us the look or hand feel you are trying to achieve. We can then check suitable fabrics against the target price and order quantity.
For halter dresses, we also look at how the fabric behaves around the neckline, straps and back opening. A fabric that looks right on a swatch may need a different lining or construction once it is made into the actual dress.
Popular Halter Dress Styles We Can Customize

A halter maxi dress needs good balance between the bodice and long skirt. Extra skirt weight can pull on the neckline, especially in satin or layered styles. Bias cuts may also use more fabric, so we check both fit and fabric consumption before quoting.

With a midi dress, the waist position has a big effect on the overall proportion. We normally check the bodice length, waistline, skirt volume and finished length together, rather than adjusting each measurement separately.

For fitted mini dresses, bust fit and neckline stability need close attention. Stretch fabrics also behave differently from woven fabrics, so we check recovery and pattern ease to prevent the dress from becoming loose after wear.

Satin shows sewing and pressing mistakes easily. We pay attention to fabric direction, seam appearance and handling during production. For bias-cut styles, higher fabric usage should also be included when working out the production cost.

Silk needs a different approach from standard woven fabrics. Before production, we check shrinkage, drape, lining and seam behavior on the actual fabric. Silk satin, silk blends and other silk-based fabrics can also require different pressing settings.

Chiffon is often used for lightweight and flowing halter styles. Because some chiffon fabrics are sheer and difficult to handle, lining, seam finishing and cutting need to be planned together. Gathered or layered skirts can also increase fabric consumption.

Ruching looks simple, but the gathering ratio changes the fit quite noticeably. We check how much fabric is being drawn in and where the fullness sits. Too much gathering can add bulk, while too little will not hold the intended shape.

With less fabric supporting the upper back, a backless halter dress relies more heavily on the neckline and straps. Depending on the design, we may use lining, elastic or reinforcement to keep the back opening secure without making the garment feel stiff.
Factory Certifications
Our factory holds BSCI, GOTS, ISO 9001 and OEKO-TEX certifications. The applicable certification depends on the product, fabric and production requirements, so we confirm the relevant documents when discussing an order.

Why Work With Xiuyu Apparel for Halter Dress Manufacturing?
A halter dress may look simple on the product drawing, but the neckline and back can make the fit more difficult than a standard dress.
The strap angle, bust support, back opening and fabric choice all affect how the garment sits on the body. We prefer to deal with these points at the sample stage, when the pattern can still be changed without disrupting bulk production.
Our production support includes:
- 18+ years of garment manufacturing experience
- Low MOQ options for new and growing brands
- OEM and ODM development
- Fabric sourcing for sampling and bulk orders
- Production capacity for both small and larger programs

Quality Control for Halter Dresses
Halter dresses have several areas where a small production error can become obvious once the garment is worn.
Our QC checks include:
- Neckline Symmetry: Left and right sides are checked against the approved sample and pattern.
- Strap Attachment: Strap joining points are checked for stitching strength and correct positioning.
- Bust and Waist Measurements: Production measurements are compared with the approved size specification.
- Back Opening: Open-back shapes and closure positions are checked against the approved sample.
- Seam and Lining: Lightweight fabrics such as chiffon and silk receive closer attention around seams and lining.
- Final Appearance: Garments are checked for loose threads, pressing, visible defects, measurements, labels and packing before shipment.
Custom Halter Dress Development From Your Design
A finished tech pack is helpful, but it is not required for every project.
You can send us:
- Technical drawings
- Sketches
- Reference photographs
- Existing samples
- Measurement charts
- Fabric references
- Color references
We regularly receive sketches, reference photos and existing samples from brands that are still working through the details. Our team can review the garment construction first and flag anything that needs to be clarified before the sample is made.
For more developed projects, we can work directly from your tech pack and measurement chart.
Our usual development flow is:
Design Review → Fabric Sourcing → Pattern Development → Sample Making → Fit Adjustment → Sample Approval → Bulk Production → Quality Inspection → Packing
The sample stage is particularly important for halter dresses because neckline position and back fit are difficult to judge from a flat drawing alone.

Private Label Halter Dress Manufacturing
Halter dresses can be produced under your own brand rather than purchased as standard ready-made products.
Private label options can include:
- Woven labels
- Size labels
- Care labels
- Hang tags
- Custom packaging
- Polybags
- Cartons
Fabric, color, measurements, trims and other garment details can also be developed to your specifications.
For smaller brands, keeping garment production and branding with the same supplier can make the ordering process easier.
Our Halter Dress Manufacturing Process
1. Share Your Design
Send your sketch, tech pack, reference sample, product photograph, or initial concept.
2. Review Fabric & Construction
We check the fabric requirement, neckline construction, back details, measurements, and other production considerations.
3. Sample Development
A sample is produced so you can evaluate the actual fabric, fit, construction, and finishing.
4. Fit & Pattern Adjustment
If measurements or construction need to change, adjustments are made before the production version is confirmed.
5. Pre-Production Approval
The approved sample becomes the reference for bulk manufacturing.
6. Bulk Production
The production team follows the confirmed specifications, fabric, measurements, and construction details.
7. Quality Inspection
Garments are inspected during production and again before shipment.
8. Packing & Delivery
Finished garments are packed according to your labeling, folding, packaging, and shipping requirements.
Construction Details We Check Before Bulk Production
A halter dress puts more responsibility on the neckline and straps than many conventional dress styles.
During sample development, we look at the areas below before the style moves into bulk production.
Neckline and Strap Position
The neckline needs to stay where it was designed to sit once the dress is worn.
During fitting, we look at the strap angle together with the neckline height and front coverage. If one of these measurements is off, the dress can pull at the neck or shift upward when the wearer moves.
These points are normally adjusted on the sample before the production pattern is finalized.
Strap Reinforcement
Thin straps may look simple, but their attachment points receive repeated tension.
We check the stitching and reinforcement where the straps join the main garment. For wider or decorative straps, we also check the finished width and folding so the strap stays flat instead of twisting.
The reinforcement method depends on the fabric and strap construction rather than using the same treatment for every style.
Bust Fit and Support
A fitted halter dress needs enough stability around the bust.
Support can come from the lining, elastic, cups, interfacing or the pattern itself. We first look at the fabric and the amount of support the design actually needs before adding extra construction.
The goal is to keep the bust secure without making the inside of the dress unnecessarily heavy.
Open-Back Construction
Many halter styles use an open back, which makes the relationship between the neckline, waist and closure more important.
Back openings are checked on the sample before the pattern is locked. If the opening pulls against the waist, we adjust it at this stage.
Edge and Seam Finishing
The neckline, armhole and back opening are highly visible on a halter dress, so uneven edges are easy to notice.
The finishing method depends on the fabric. Lightweight chiffon may need a different treatment from satin or a stretch jersey. We check the finished edge on the sample before using the same construction for bulk production.
Tie-back, Adjustable Strap and Hardware Details For Halter Dress Production
On a halter dress, the back details need to work properly, not just look good in photos. Ties, sliders, rings and closures all affect fit and comfort. During sampling, we normally check how much tension the back takes, whether the hardware moves, and whether the finished garment sits properly on the body.

The tie-back can be made with self-fabric straps, satin ties, flat tape or cord, depending on the look and fabric. During sampling, we check the tie length, knot position and seam strength. A tie that is too short is difficult to adjust, while an oversized knot can make the back look heavy.
- Tie length should leave enough room for adjustment without excessive loose ends.
- Self-fabric ties need clean seams and good control of fraying.
- The tie position should support the front neckline and back opening.
- Stress points are reinforced where the tie joins the dress.

Adjustable straps give the wearer more fitting flexibility. During sampling, we check the slider against the strap width and test whether it stays in position during wear.
- Sliders should hold the strap firmly after adjustment.
- Strap width needs to match the hardware opening.
- Hardware should not create a hard pressure point around the neck.
- The strap attachment needs enough reinforcement for repeated adjustment.

Rings are commonly used at the center front, neckline or back of a halter dress. Their size and weight need to work with the fabric. A heavy ring on lightweight satin, for example, can pull the neckline out of shape. The ring is tested with the finished strap. Selecting the hardware separately can give a misleading result, especially on lighter fabrics.
- We match the ring size to the strap width and neckline.
- Metal edges are checked before the hardware is approved.
- Lightweight fabrics may need extra reinforcement around the ring.
- Ring placement is checked on the actual sample before bulk production.

Hooks, clasps and similar closures are often used at the back neck or back opening. We look at how easily the garment can be put on and taken off, but also whether the closure stays secure. The lining and seam allowance need to cover the hardware properly without creating a bulky area.
- We check that the closure stays secure during normal movement.
- The back finish should remain clean from the outside.
- Lining can be used to cover hardware and improve comfort.
- Closure areas need reinforcement to prevent the fabric from pulling.

Lace-up backs give a halter dress more adjustment, but the eyelets take quite a bit of pulling force. We normally check the spacing, reinforcement and cord movement during sampling. If the fabric is soft or lightweight, the eyelet area may need additional support to prevent stretching or tearing.
- We check eyelet spacing on both sides before approving the sample.
- Reinforcement helps prevent the fabric from pulling away from the holes.
- We match the cord width to the eyelet size.
- The lace-up route should tighten evenly rather than pulling to one side.

If you want custom hardware for your collection, we can work with different ring, slider, clasp and finish options. The main points are size, plating or finish, weight and how the hardware works with the fabric. For bulk production, we record the approved hardware specification so later production stays consistent with the sample.
- Hardware finish should match the overall direction of the collection.
- Excessive hardware weight can affect neckline shape and comfort.
- Metal parts should be checked for sharp edges and surface defects.
- The approved size, finish and placement should be recorded for bulk production.

Cutting Room & Fabric warehouse

As a custom clothing manufacturer, we handle the main production steps in-house, from pattern making and sampling through cutting, sewing, finishing, and final inspection. Our team works from your tech pack, sample, sketch, or reference and checks the details before the style moves into bulk production.
Keeping these stages with one production team makes it easier to deal with pattern changes, sample revisions, and construction issues before cutting starts. We can also arrange screen printing and custom embroidery when these details are part of the design.

More Halter Dress Styles We Can Customize

Custom prints need to be considered before cutting, especially for placement designs. We check the print repeat, scale and fabric direction, then plan the cutting layout so important parts of the artwork stay in the correct position.

Bodycon halter dresses depend heavily on fabric recovery and pattern balance. We check negative ease, seam placement and neckline support during sampling. If the fabric stretches easily but does not recover well, the finished dress can lose its shape after repeated wear.

Evening halter dresses may use satin, silk, crepe, lace, mesh or embellished fabrics. Each material needs its own construction approach. We normally develop the pattern and sewing method around the fabric instead of using one construction method for every style.

Party halter dresses often combine fitted shapes with open backs or statement necklines. The challenge is keeping these details clean without adding unnecessary layers or bulk. Sample fitting helps us adjust the internal construction before the style moves into bulk production.

Develop Your Halter Dress Collection With a Clothing Manufacturer
Send us the halter dress information you already have — a sketch, tech pack, reference photo, sample or fabric reference.
For a quotation, include the expected quantity, size range, fabric preference and target delivery date if available. If the design is still being developed, send the current version and we can review the construction before sampling.
Yes. You can send us a sketch, tech pack, or reference image, and our pattern team can work from it to develop the halter dress. We’ll check the neckline, back construction, fit, fabric, and finishing details before making the first sample.
Look at more than appearance. Fabric weight, drape, stretch, recovery and transparency can all affect the finished style. A fabric that looks right in a photo may not provide enough support around the neckline. We can compare fabric options with you before the sample is made.
A first halter dress sample usually takes around 3–7 days, depending on the design and fabric. Simple styles can move faster, while fitted bodices, special necklines, or detailed back construction may need extra time for pattern adjustments and sewing.
Yes. You can add your own woven labels, size labels, care labels, hang tags and packaging to the garment. If you are starting with a smaller order, we can review the quantity and branding requirements together so the production plan matches the size of your initial collection.
Yes. You can provide your own fabric or ask us to source options. We can compare materials based on appearance, weight, drape and target price. For delicate fabrics, we also consider whether the material is suitable for the neckline, lining, seams and finishing required by your design.
Our MOQ for custom halter dresses typically starts at 50–100 pieces per style or color. For new brands and smaller collections, we can discuss the order quantity based on fabric availability, construction, and whether you need custom colors or special trims.
To prepare a quotation, we normally need the design sketch, reference image, tech pack, or sample, along with the expected quantity, fabric preference, and custom details. If some information is still missing, that’s fine—we can review the design first and confirm the details with you.
We compare the sample and production garments against the approved measurements and construction details. For halter styles, we pay particular attention to the neckline, strap position, bust, waist and back opening because these areas determine how the garment sits when worn.
